Moritz College of Law’s Associate Dean and ADR Scholar Chris Fairman

It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the sad news that our colleague in dispute resolution, Moritz College of Law’s Associate Dean Christopher Fairman, passed away unexpectedly last night. The loss of our beloved associate dean and colleague is not easily borne — Chris was a wonderful friend, a terrific listener, an unparalleled classroom teacher and a well-regarded scholar in civil procedure and dispute resolution. Chris wrote and taught extensively on dispute resolution and ethics and was active in calling for new ethical rules to govern collaborative law. At Moritz, he taught a very popular seminar on ADR Ethics. He also participated in several symposia on the subject and served as an Official Observer to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) Drafting Committee on a Collaborative Law Act. We will miss Chris very, very much. We will be organizing an event in 2016 to honor Chris and his many contributions to the field of ADR (some of which we include below).
