A is for Asshole, no seriously

I wish I could take credit for that title, but that lovely phrase above is the title of a new book by Victoria Pynchon with the full title of  A is for Asshole: The Grownup’s ABCs of Conflict Resolution .  The rest of the book is just as funny as the title with witty chapters on I is for Idiot; L is for Lawyer; M is for Mediator etc.  A very easy read with at least one good example or story per chapter.  I am already thinking of particular chapters for particular people in my life (so are you my Enemy, Hero or Zen Master?) as well as what chapters would translate well for classroom teaching.  In the meantime, it’s a great read in between grading exams and I am enjoying.  Thanks Vickie for a wonderful holidy gift!

  1. I love the picture on the front of the book. Made me laugh.

I would give any teacher who brought a book like this into class a lot of respect. So many classes were dry, boring casebook readings. This could definitely liven things up and in turn lead to more memorable examples and discussions.
