Fordham’s Jaqueline Nolan-Haley will present OSU Moritz College of Law’s 2017 Schwartz Lecture on Dispute Resolution

Fordham Law School Professor and Fordham ADR & Conflict Resolution Program Director Jacqueline Nolan-Haley will deliver the 2017 Schwartz Lecture on Dispute Resolution at noon on March 9, 2017, at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Over the last four decades, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes have been promoted as efficient tools to improve overburdened court systems and to secure access to justice. Governments, courts, policymakers, and corporate officers have pushed hard to sell mediation and arbitration, often without regard for the fact that they are overriding the consensual nature of these processes. Professor Nolan-Haley will explore the erosion of consent in ADR processes and offer some reflections on how we should respond.

The Schwartz Lecture on Dispute Resolution was established in 1992 as a result of the generosity of the late Stanley Schwartz Jr. (a 1947 Moritz College of Law graduate) and the Schwartz family. Each lecture is published in the interdisciplinary Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, in keeping with Mr. Schwartz’s interest in the promotion of scholarly publication in the area of dispute resolution.
